Some more links to some various places around the Internet that may be of some help to some people out there who like to sometimes write some things.
Back in April on the Books of the Dead Press site, James Roy Daley posted a great list of 13 things you should consider before you submit your manuscript. So many of these things are logical, and yet they just don’t seem to happen.
A couple of links from the blog of the SA Writers’ Centre.
The first is something I should do a bit more of – 7 Musts for Online Promotion. It seems so simple and so logical, and yet it feels like it’s quite a challenge. In today’s media landscape, though, it really is vital. Cassandra Dean makes it seem so easy, though…
And next is a list of 10 Tips for Writing About Place by Kerryn Goldsworthy. Again, it seems logical, but I don’t know how many stories I’ve read where place just isn’t evoked effectively.
And finally, a writerly friend of mine (DC White) has started his own blog. It’s a bit of fun, with some examples of his writing, some of his ideas and other things. Read it and enjoy! I certainly do.
Next week I’m going to be giving a talk on writing horror to one of the writers’ groups I am involved with – North East Writers Inc. If it goes well (fingers crossed) then I’ll put up some sort of thing about it – a brief overview of what was said, my notes or something like that. Of course, if it fails dismally, then I shan’t bother. But now that I’ve said this, I guess even if I don’t bother I should still bother doing something about it.
