Odds & Ends (again)

Quick catch up on some things writerly.

Angelic Knight Press have accepted my story ‘Continuation Of The Status Quo’ for their upcoming anthology No Place Like Home: Tales From a Fractured Future

Wicked East Press have accepted ‘Office Education’ for their upcoming anthology Down The Rabbit Hole.

Meanwhile, 3 other stories have not found homes at various anthologies.

*Sigh!* Win some, lose some.

Cult Of The Snake was rejected again, bringing rejection totals up to 163. The email was quite comprehensive. They wanted the city to be named (easily enough done), they wanted more exposition of the Hindu mythology (why? but, again, do-able), they didn’t want the main character to be disabled, and they didn’t like the whole giant snake thing. But the main thing was this: “…horror fiction in Australia does not sell. No Australian horror novels by Australians set in Australia have sold large numbers of books. Therefore we feel that this manuscript would not sell. Sorry.”

A few blog posts worth noting:

A discussion of blading – the art of bleeding in professional wrestling – is potentially an interesting read for those who think they use ‘blood capsules’.

A look at the way wrestling has passed me by is a potentially depressing read.

And then there’s a brief look at some wrestling fanfic… (and fanfic is often the lowest form of fiction).

Meanwhile, in the world of music, how about some of the better Christmas comedy songs (that are safe for work), or some of the better Christmas rock songs?

Meanwhile, join in the (all too brief) discussion about the best superhero movies out there.

And finally, how about a look at some of the more eclectic Christmas books available out there in the real world?

That’s about it. A brief catch-up on my world of writing.

Congratulations from a fellow Down the Rabbit Hole author, I’ll be looking forward to reading Office Education. Good luck with Cult of the Snake, I always try to remember that most of the comments in rejection letters are opinion not fact!
